Read: JEREMIAH 20:7-18
Bible in a year: Job 29-31
A disabled man wanted to participate in a marathon in his city. Some of his friends advised him to cancel his intention considering the difficult terrain of the race. Calmly, the man replied, "Don't worry, in the eyes of others I may look weak, but I want to prove that my weak body does not hinder me from finishing the race." The man did not become the champion, but he crossed the finish line with tears of victory, even though in the last place.
Jeremiah also experienced heavy inner pressure. As a prophet, he was often rejected, humiliated, and even imprisoned for delivering the word of the Lord. Many people ridiculed him. In his weakness and despair, he almost gave up and even regretted the day he was born (verse 18). Indeed, behind his lamentations, I reflect on the struggle of an honest servant of the Lord. Jeremiah did experience weakness, but he chose to remain faithful. From him, I learned that true strength does not come from within himself, but from the Lord who is with him in the midst of suffering.
Are we at a weak point like Jeremiah? Have we felt that we have given our all and tried to faithfully fulfill God's calling, but instead of acceptance, we faced rejection. At that weak point, our hearts are being tested, whether we choose to give up or continue to walk faithfully. Whatever our weaknesses, may God enable us to finish our faith race faithfully. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net
EVEN IF NOT RESPONDED WELL, GOD WANTS US TO KEEP FAITHFULLY FULFILLING HIS CALLING.
