HEALED BY FAITH

Baca:

Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, "If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed." Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, "Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed at that moment. (Matthew 9:20-22 NLT)

Bacaan tahunan: Joshua 9-10

Thoughts for Today

Jesus will not shun nor shame us over our spiritual agony after an abortion. Jesus had compassion on the crowds who followed him in need of healing (Matthew 14:14)-and he has compassion on us. He sees us as harassed and helpless when we are without his spiritual leadership in life (Matthew 9:35-36). He knows we cannot save ourselves. Because he loves us, he will exercise his power to take on our sin and shame, heal our affliction, and give us a new status as children of God. We have only to open our hands and hearts to receive this gift. Do we want it? Are we willing to reach out in faith for it?
It is our faith in Jesus that brings us to the place where we can receive healing from him. Do you have the boldness and faith the woman in today's scripture had?

Consider this ...

This kind of faith not only can heal your heart but also can impact the hearts of others by demonstrating God's power to make us new. The implications for us who suffer after abortion are stunning. When we turn to Jesus, God no longer counts any sin against us because of our faith in Jesus and his sacrifice. Jesus doesn't just remedy our sin. He takes it. He removes it and makes us pure, clean, and new.
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us," the Bible tells us, "so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV). Jesus became our sin so we could become his righteousness.
Jesus makes you clean. He makes you new. He makes you pure.
Isn't that an amazing promise? You no longer need to withdraw or be ashamed or agonize. "In Christ" you become a "new creation," like newborn babies, all new-not just cleansed. No longer in any debt to God over sins (2 Corinthians 5:17-19 NIV).
