Bacaan tahunan: 1 Chronicles 22-24
As a Christian, we surely rejoice when participating in ministry that brings good results. For example, leading worship in a blessed church service. Preaching the Gospel and leading people to Christ. Engaging in deliverance ministry and helping those oppressed by evil spirits. Praying for the sick and witnessing healing and restoration. And various kinds of ministry that make us proud to be followers of Christ. However, among all these, which one should be the greatest joy for a Christian?
In addition to choosing twelve disciples, Jesus also selected seventy other disciples. He appointed them to go ahead of Him to the places He planned to visit. They were given specific instructions and prohibitions in carrying out this mission. They were also given authority to perform various miracles. Afterwards, they gathered again. This was a sort of ministry evaluation. Their experiences proved that the power of God was clearly manifested in their ministry. Even demons submitted to them. No wonder they were filled with joy.
However, amidst all these experiences, Jesus reminded them that their joy should not be based on their own accomplishments. Not on ministry achievements. But on what only God can do for sinful humanity. That is, He redeems and saves us. He writes our names in the Book of Life in heaven. Yes, celebrating the salvation granted by Him should be the source of our joy in carrying out various ministries in this world. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
