HIS HAND PULLED ME

30 June 2026

Baca: PSALM 18:1-20

Bacaan tahunan: Psalms 86-89

A major flood hit a small town. The rising water forced hundreds of people to be trapped on the roofs of their houses. Rescuers came with rubber boats, braving the strong currents and great risks to help the victims. The heroic stories of the rescuers prompted those who were saved to say, 'If it weren't for those rescuers, I would have been swept away and died.'

David also experienced a 'mighty flood' in his life. The 'flood of life' came in the form of enemy threats, betrayal, and various sufferings. Yet, in the midst of those threats, he testified that God Himself reached out to help him. David did not just know his God from afar, but truly stretched out His hand. David said, 'He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.' God's help came not because he was strong, but because of God's great steadfast love.

What kind of intensity is trying to drown us right now? Financial problems? A failing business or job? A deteriorating relationship? The intensity of the threats may make us feel unable to swim anymore, all strength is gone. However, today we are reminded that it is precisely at that moment that the Lord reaches out His hand. He never stops watching over us. He can use the 'boats' of people around us, as well as through His word, even through situations that we consider bad, to pull us out of the intensity of the problems that threaten us. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net
WHEN THE FLOOD OF LIFE THREATENS TO DROWN, THERE GOD'S HAND REACHES OUT TO PULL US OUT.
